Who are we?

About Us:

Our names are Kaylyn Staadt and Hazel Deegan, we are 15-year-olds from Colorado. Recently, we were given a Humanities project at school

To bring awareness to a topic of our choice. Both of us being deeply passionate about fighting human trafficking, agreed immediately that we wanted it to be our focus.

However, as we bounced ideas about how we wanted to go about the project creating a simple slideshow presentation didn’t seem like enough, it became clear to us that we wanted to do something bigger—something that could make a real difference. That’s how Chains to Changes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors and raising awareness about human trafficking, came to life.

Why Chains to Changes

We named our nonprofit Chains to Changes because it perfectly captures the heart of our mission. The word "Chains" represents the harsh reality of human trafficking—the bondage, pain, and exploitation that so many endure. It’s a reminder of the obstacles we are fighting to overcome. "Changes," on the other hand, speaks to the hope, healing, and transformation that we strive to bring into the lives of survivors. It’s about breaking those chains and empowering individuals to embrace a new beginning, filled with opportunities and support. This name reflects our belief in the power of change and our commitment to turning stories of oppression into stories of triumph.
